Two of Swords Card

Supporting / Blocking Tarot Card

%0
support
The blockage arises from a refusal to acknowledge reality as it is, without embellishment. The querent closes their eyes just like in the image on the card. If the querent does not pause to examine all potential issues that may arise, they will fail.

The Meaning of The Card

Difficulty dealing with reality is a situation where a person faces a decision and needs to be logical and balanced, but fear causes them to freeze. In this case, the querent should be encouraged to examine the situation in a supportive environment, whether during the reading or by consulting a therapist. Understanding and addressing the obstacles will remove the paralysis and enable a proper response.
Two of Swords card: The Meaning of The Symbols

Blindfolded Woman The blindfolded woman symbolizes the unwillingness to face reality. The blindfold represents a refusal to accept facts and a closing off from the world.

Mythology

Orestes, following a severe conflict between his mother, Queen Clytemnestra, and his father, King Agamemnon, after his father had sacrificed his sister Iphigenia to the goddess Artemis, could not bear the discord and thus isolates himself by leaving to another room, closing his eyes and plugging his ears. The card represents a state of ignoring reality, whether due to an inability to cope with it or due to ignoring the existing facts in reality.

Representation of the Card in a Reading

In a reading, the Two card represents a wake-up call from the initial wholeness of the Ace. Reality is far from perfect; it contains challenges and obstacles that must be overcome and matured through in order to undergo a process and return to the Ace. The Two card signifies a break—a dream and its disintegration, wholeness versus the reality of life. The querent is faced with a challenge, closing their eyes and ignoring the problems that are likely to arise. The card urges the querent to open their eyes and prepare to tackle the challenge by listing all possible issues expected in the current situation and addressing them.
